UAV-based systems are driving disruptive applications in the market, from wireless access in disaster areas to panoramic virtual reality of live video or personal transport. The estimated economic impact of drone industry is enormous, being Texas one of the states predicted to see the most gains in terms of job creation and additional revenue. Key technologies for these UAV-based systems are positioning/mapping/navigation, collaborative sensing or MIMO communication. These technologies have been studied and developed in SAVES for ground vehicles in the last year. SAVES faculty are therefore well positioned to investigate and design new solutions based on these technologies for the aerial scenario.  SAVES is starting to go aerial!
